Working Conditions:
Majority of work is in a normal office environment. Exposure to inclement weather, confined spaces, noise, dust, fumes, traffic, extreme temperatures, raw sewage, pumping systems, utility lines, uneven terrain and construction sites when conducting site visits and managing projects.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Diploma in related discipline including Engineering Technology, Environmental, Water/Wastewater, etc. EOCP certification is an asset.
- 5 years related experience including 2 years in a senior capacity and 6 months on the job training.
- Landfill Operator's Certification (21 hours), Dam Site Inspection Course (14 hours), Standard First Aid (14 hours), Confined Space Entry (14 hours), Electrical Hazards and Trenching Safety (14 hours) = Total 77 Hours
- Proven project management, decision-making/problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Good organizational, prioritizing and multi-tasking skills and ability to work unsupervised.
- Proven written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to foster and maintain effective relationships among peers and/or stakeholders.
- Valid Yukon Class 5 Drivers License.
Examples of Required Equipment To Operate:
Light transportation vehicle, canoe or small boat, sampling, testing and recording equipment, engineering calculator and safety equipment; gas detectors; communications and office equipment, computer with applications including Outlook, GIS, Word, database programs, Excel, Landfill scale software, AutoCAD, SCADA, and various Engineering software packages, Traffic Signal Counters and Controllers, and flowmeters.
