Working Condition:
The incumbent works in a cubicle-based workstation environment, where the noise from phone calls, staff discussions and operating equipment regularly causes distractions. Exposure to dust/dirt, fumes/odors, hazardous substances and noise daily while performing job duties within the City facilities. Occasional exposure to outdoor northern climate extreme weather conditions and temperatures. On site and daily travelling between various work locations. Works from ladders, lifts, roofs and confined spaces. On call evenings and weekends on a rotational basis.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter
- 5 years related experience including 2 years at a supervisory level
- On the job experience - 1 year
- Valid Class 5 Drivers license
- Strong understanding of the National Building Code, Fire Codes, CSA Accessible Design for Built Environment and Municipal Codes.
- Strong client-service orientation and good interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task in a high pace environment.
- Proven problem solving, communication, consensus building, collaboration and human relations skills.
- Proven written and oral communication skills to develop and present reports.
- Strong organizational skills, prioritizing and ability to multitask with minimal supervision.

Examples of Equipment to Operate:
Various lifts, including forklift, boom lift, bucket truck, scissor lift, basic and specialized construction power equipment and tools. Operating City vehicles.
General office equipment including computer skills to operate software programs related to Excel spreadsheets, word processing, electronic mail, databases, GIS maps, Word, Pearl and ERP. Computerized maintenance management system.
