Working Conditions:
Majority of the work is performed under normal office conditions. High level of concentration required during incidents with multiple radios and telephone calls occurring simultaneously. Exposure to dirt, oil, diesel fumes, noise and/or weather variations when performing traffic control for returning apparatus.
Knowledge and Skills:

Emergency Communications and Response certificate or ability to obtain within six months

2 years related experience and 6 months on the job training.

Standard First Aid including level C CPR (16 hours)

Geographical knowledge of the City (streets, major buildings, complexes, etc.)

Ability to work and maintain accuracy under pressure, attention to detail and meet critical deadlines

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with little supervision

Strong client service orientation and good interpersonal skills

Good organizational and multi-tasking skills
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Examples of Equipment to Operate:
Communications equipment, including an emergency phone system, radios and paging equipment, alarm monitoring systems, an electronic log book, a radio/pager dispatch system, etc. General office equipment, including computer skills to operate software programs related to word processing, spreadsheets, electronic mail, etc.
