Job Summary:
The City of Whitehorse FireSmart team supports wildfire preparedness, prevention, and mitigation through public education, property assessments, and arranging mitigation work to reduce community risk from wildfires.
Reporting to the Parks Supervisor, the FireSmart Outreach Outreach Person is responsible for supporting the implementation of the FireSmart program within the City by working to empower community members in taking steps to FireSmart their properties and supporting public education.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Conducts FireSmart Home Ignition Zone (HIZ) assessments within Whitehorse and provides recommendations to property owners.
- Records data, maintains records and makes appointments regarding assessments.
- Assists with organizing, planning, and participates in public education events such as FireSmart work bees, market days, and special events.
- Attends training and/or workshops related to FireSmart and wildfire risk reduction.
- Follows, so far as is reasonably practicable, established safety procedures and standards.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
